Stride’s ongoing conversations with community groups across Canberra and beyond
Modern transport must be more than fast or efficient. It must be thoughtful, inclusive, and reflective of the cities and communities it serves.
Over the past year, Stride has been engaging with a wide range of organisations, community and advocacy groups, as well as everyday residents, to better understand how people experience urban transport on the ground.
These conversations help shape our approach to shared transport. Not just our E-Scooters and E-Bikes, but how we can work with public transport systems to connect the community. This allows Stride to provide a responsive and responsible vision for active urban transport.

What the community values
The message is clear. When designed well, urban transport delivers enormous benefit.
- With reduced congestion and emissions through fewer short car trips.
- Affordable and flexible movement for young people, such as students, as well as those without access to a vehicle.
- Delivering stronger links to existing public transport and cycling networks.
- A more vibrant, people-friendly city where walking and riding is encouraged.
There is also a growing enthusiasm for the role shared E-Bikes can play. Particularly for longer trips or for users who may feel less comfortable on an E-Scooter.
Concerns we’re listening to
Just as important, however, are the community’s concerns. Some of these issues stem from current or past operators, it’s clear the bar needs to be raised.
- Cluttered footpaths and unsafe parking that restrict access for pedestrians, especially those with vision or mobility challenges.
- Inconsistent rider behaviour, such as speeding past pedestrians, tandem riding, and not wearing helmets.
- Lack of clear accountability with operators when issues arise.
- Limited collaboration between shared transport operators and the community.
These are not small concerns and they deserve serious attention.
What Stride is doing differently
From the beginning, Stride has set out to do more than just deploy electric bicycles and scooters. We’re building Stride to be a community-first and safety-focused transport platform designed for real urban environments across Australia.

How will we solve this?
Using a variety of solutions such as intelligent safety features with machine learning and AI, instructional user education, working with local organisations, and a clear stance on privacy, Stride is built for Australia.
Organised parking
Physical and virtual parking zones help keep streets tidy and prevent footpath obstructions. With parking zones and stations shown within our App, it’s easy to park correctly.
Intelligent safety features
With footpath and shared path appropriate speeds, pedestrian-first zones, helmet detection, just a few of the features we offer.
User education
From the moment you download the app to the end of your ride, Stride provides guidance through onboarding tutorials, safe riding tips, parking rewards, and more.
Privacy & transparency
Stride maintains a clear stance on data protection, prioritising user privacy and operating with full transparency, with all operations run locally in your city.
Active partnerships
Stride works continuously with local organisations, institutions, and accessibility groups to ensure inclusive design, while also engaging in active advocacy to promote equitable and sustainable urban mobility.

Feedback
As always, feedback from you helps improve our solutions. This feedback informs our operations, app development, and rider experience across Australia. We actively engage with local organisations, councils, and advocacy groups to shape a shared urban transport system that serves all users effectively.
